DESCRIPTION:Mental Health First-Aid (MHFA) introduces participants to identify common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use-related challenges\, builds understanding on their impact and provides an overview of common supports. This eight-hour course utilizes role play\, scenarios\, and activities to demonstrate how to offer initial help in a mental health crisis and connect persons to the appropriate professional\, peer\, social and self-help care. \nMHFA takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance use problems by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental illness or substance use disorder. \nStudies have shown that those who are trained in Mental Health First Aid have: \n\ngreater confidence in providing help to others;\ngreater likelihood of advising people to seek professional help;\nimproved agreement with health professionals about treatments; and\ndecreased stigmatizing attitudes.\n\nTraining is intended for all employees of your organization who wish to learn and support mental health well-being efforts. DESCRIPTION:Mental Health First Aid: April 29\, 2024 (In-Person Training-prior to Indiana Chamber HR Conference)\nMental Health First-Aid (MHFA) introduces participants to identify common signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use-related challenges\, builds understanding on their impact and provides an overview of common supports. This eight-hour course utilizes role play\, scenarios\, and activities to demonstrate how to offer initial help in a mental health crisis and connect persons to the appropriate professional\, peer\, social and self-help care. \nMHFA takes the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance use problems by improving understanding and providing an action plan that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental illness or substance use disorder. \nTraining is intended for all employees of your organization who wish to learn and support mental health well-being efforts. DESCRIPTION:Employer Connection Series – Bartholomew County: Bridging Gaps in Workplace Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Resources\nBartholomew County has been selected to host a community-driven convening of Hoosier organizations to navigate the barriers in accessing care and strengthen local community responses and preventive efforts around substance use disorder and mental health. \nThe Employer Connection Series: Bridging Gaps in Workplace Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Resources was created in partnership with the Wellness Council of Indiana and the Division of Mental Health and Addiction within the Family & Social Services Administration of Indiana to help employers understand stigma and its impact on the workplace\, explore best practices for creating supportive policies and procedures and leverage local resources and programs for employee support. \nWe invite you to attend this free event on April 16\, 2024 from 9:00am – 3:30pm at the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation Administration Building 1200 Central Avenue Columbus\, IN 47201 to learn about evidence-based programming and connections to local programs and training.
