With employed Hoosiers making up 58% to 70% of individuals with substance use disorder and 41% of individuals accessing publicly-funded treatment options in the state, Hoosier employers must be equipped to manage the impact substance misuse has on their present and potential talent.
In February 2018, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and the Wellness Council of Indiana announced the Indiana Workforce Recovery initiative, a strategic partnership with Gov. Eric Holcomb and his administration to combat the opioid epidemic.
On September 11, 2019, Indiana Workforce Recovery will host a kickoff event for efforts in South Bend, Indiana. This event will provide employers with a base level of technical knowledge and resources to manage the immediate impact of substance misuse on their current and future workforce. This is a continuation of the popular event series from Spring 2019, which saw over 350 employers attend events around the state, 96% of whom would recommend this program to another colleague/employee at their organization.
Topics covered will include: science of substance use disorder, stories of recovery, legal guidance on drug-free workplace policies, how to detect use among employees, optional naloxone training and connection to local treatment and recovery efforts.
These events run from 8-2:30pm, with optional naloxone training from 1:30-2:30pm. They are free of charge for employers. Light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
If you would like to learn about participating as an exhibitor, or have any questions about the event contact Mike Thibideau, Director of Indiana Workforce Recovery, at firstname.lastname@example.org or (317) 264-2166.
