DAYTONA BEACH — A killer is on the loose and Halifax Health is hoping the business community will help capture the criminal preying on the public health.
Heart disease is the No.1 cause of death for both men and women, but it can be prevented through healthy eating, exercise and reducing stress, Dr. Don Stoner, chief medical officer for Halifax Health, told about 20 business leaders Friday morning.
“We need to chain up the killer for good, and we can do it,” said Stoner, a cardiologist. “Our focus needs to be on prevention and early detection.”
But the Daytona Beach hospital can’t do it alone, Stoner said. The whole community needs to pitch in toward the goal.
